Anyone who knows me, knows I am all about the Beachbody home workouts. I stopped going to the gym four years ago when I first did Insanity.
But, its not just enough to do the workouts, as any fitness professional (I’m not one, obvs!) would tell you. You can workout all you want, but if you don’t dial in that nutrition, you won’t see the results. That old saying that abs are made in the kitchen is definitely true.
When it comes to cooking, I’m not all that bad in the kitchen, but sometimes I am stuck on what to make, that’s quick, easy and healthy. One of my favourite healthy cookbooks is Fixate by Autumn Calabrese, the creator of the 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme and Beachbody Super Trainer.
In this book, Autumn gives us 101 healthy, easy and delicious recipes which all fall within her now infamous colour container system. Not only do you get yummy recipes, Autumn also provides guidance on how to maintain portion control, since its not just enough to eat healthy but we must also watch how much we eat to see those results.
Autumn’s famous ‘Grandma’s Tomato Sauce’
One of my favourite recipes in this book is the Grandma’s Tomato Sauce. The ingredients are fresh and simple and it takes about an hour and 30 minutes to cook. What I love about this sauce is that it is so versatile. You can use it for Bolognese, Lasagne, Chilli, Pizza…just about any of your favourite Italian dishes.
As well as savoury dishes, Autumn also gives us healthy versions of sweet treats such as cookies, muffins, protein waffles and French toast.
Choc Chip Cookies with Almond Flour
The great thing about this book is that it uses ingredients that most of us health conscious folk will already have in our kitchen cupboards or which are easily sourced from local supermarkets.
As much as I love to stay healthy and eat clean, nutritious food, the same old grilled chicken and broccoli combo gets so old, so its great to have a book like this to fall back on when I’m stuck for ideas on what to eat.
Tonight, I’m making the Chicken & Broccoli Macaroni Cheese, which is a classic twist on my favourite old school dish. I’m actually salivating at the thought of it right now! 😀
I bought my copy of Fixate from Beachbody UK for £19.95 and you can also buy the Portion Fix colour container system from there too.
P.S…this post is not sponsored or affiliated with Fixate or Beachbody, I just really like the book and thought I’d share 🙂
